AIDC technologies automatically identifies objects or images, captures data and stores it directly into the computer system without human interference. The technology is used for inventory and asset management across several industries, including retail, manufacturing, transportation and logistics, government, healthcare and hospitality among others.

The growth of AIDC is driven by factors such as increasing need to reduce manual data capture and entry errors, growing government initiatives for the use of AIDC technology, and the increasing use of AIDC systems in the e-commerce sectors. However, high capital expenditure for deploying RFID and biometrics systems and lack of awareness towards AIDC application in developing countries can obstruct the market growth.

To promote the growth of AIDC industry in India, several individuals have come forward and formed an association. AIDC Technologies Association of India is a professional organization for the AIDC industry in India. These individuals have made substantial contributions to the advancement of the industry. Increasing business understanding of AIDC processes and technologies are the primary goals of the association. At their core, all AIDC Technologies support two common goals:

1. Eliminate errors associated with identification and / or data collection.
2. Accelerate the throughput process.

The association is a technical and business resource whose goal is to enlarge the business community , knowledge and understanding of AIDC. Thus, it serves as a business and social networking environment for its members.
